• Alternative Fuels For Vehicles
  •    World wide, more than a dozen alternative fuels have been developed or are under development for use in automobiles. Government and private-sector vehicle fleets are the primary users of these fuels in the countries leading in alternate fuel technology, while individual consumers are getting interested too. Alternative fuels not only save fossil fuels but also reduce vehicle emissions. The alternative fuels already developed and in use are:
    • Biodiesel
    • Ethanol
    • Hydrogen
    • Electricity
    • Propane
    • Natural Gas
    Emerging Alternative Fuels For Vehicles:
    • Purified Compressed Biogas (97% Methane)
    • Synthetic Diesel from Biomass

  • Emissions:
  • Methane as transport fuel Reduces :

    CO emissions 90-97% & CO2 emission by 25%

    NOX emissions 35 – 60% :

    Hydrocarbon emissions 50 -75%

Emits little or no particulate matter

Bangalore has ~ 35,00,000 vehicles on road,1300 gets added daily

1.3 million Kg/yr of CBG would replace 1.3 million liter of petrol/diesel

  • Energy
  • Fuel                                    Energy Content
    1 cum CBG (97% Methane)    9.67 kWh
1 cum Natural Gas                 11.0 kWh
    1 liter Petrol                          9.06 kWh
    1 liter Diesel                          9.8 kWh

1 cum Natural gas is equivalent to 1.2 lt petrol

1 cum of CBG (97% Methane) is equivalent to
    1.1 lt petrol
